Vaccinations

A vaccination plan ensures your canine companion remains protected against dangerous diseases.

We have selected our core vaccines and the timing that they are given based on years of experience and how the vaccines have changed over the years. We keep in mind the diseases that they prevent, safety and your pets benefit from using them.

What types of vaccinations does your offer for adult dogs?

We offer many vaccines for your dog and they can be based on lifestyle, age, size and other factors. We offer a set of core vaccines that we have found to be the most worrisome in our area. They include Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Leptospirosis. We also have additional vaccines available that include: Bordetella, Lyme disease, and H2N3. We use both regular vaccines and adjunct-free vaccines depending on the situation and the pet.

Is there a schedule for how often to vaccinate a dog?

Dog vaccines begin one year from the last puppy vaccine given with Rabies. This first vaccine is very important for immunity and a full complement of vaccines is provided at this time including Rabies. After this, we begin to change up a schedule a bit. We divide out vaccines and their protocol. Leptospirosis is a yearly vaccine, but then we either add to it the dog virals or the Rabies vaccine alternately. Other vaccines may be added depending on the dog’s lifestyle. The additional ones may include Bordetella (kennel cough) or Lyme vaccine.

Why is it important to vaccinate your dog?

Dogs come in contact with many things in their day to day life and the vaccines that we offer help to improve their immunity and ability to fight off disease. Some of the diseases that we vaccinate for are ones that are also transmissible to humans so by vaccinating your pet you also help to avoid diseases for you and your human family as well. Your dog does not have to be in any contact with another dog to pick up some of the diseases.

How much does it cost to vaccinate my dog?

When your pet comes in for a vaccination visit we have a look at their history to see what vaccines are due at this time. We charge for the vaccine examination and then include your core vaccines at this cost. Any extra vaccines, however, will be an additional fee as not all pets require them. Please contact the clinic for a quote.
