Vaccines given to your puppy are very important, they are helping to be building blocks for their life. A series of vaccines is the best protocol as this way it builds up the immunity and protection as “stair steps”. Initially, vaccines should be given at approximately 8, 12, and 16 weeks. Best is with 4 weeks between each one.

What vaccinations do you provide to new puppies?

We provide vaccines that puppies would need as they age. As with children getting vaccines, we change them a bit as they come in for visits. Certain vaccines such as Leptospirosis are not added in until greater than 9 weeks of age.

Why is it important to vaccinate your puppy?

When puppies are very young they will get a bit of immunity and protection from the mother when nursing (as long as she was well vaccinated), but then as they grow they need additional protection. Puppies are in contact with many things that could carry diseases and virus’. The vaccines will help to fight them off.

At what age should I bring in my puppy for its vaccinations?

Puppies should have their first vaccines between the ages of 6-9 weeks, then again four weeks later, with the final puppy set 4 weeks after that.

How should I prepare my puppy for its first vaccination visit?

No need to do anything special before you come in, as vaccines are given by injection there is no preparation. We do however need a puppy that is feeling well.

How much do puppy vaccinations cost?

Puppy vaccines visits are charged as a vaccine visit and the vaccines that your puppy requires at this point will be included in the cost of the visit. The exceptions to this will be if you need something more such as Bordetella (kennel cough) as this would have a small additional fee.
